I'll keep this short.
A neighbor's kid (12 or 13, I think) has leukemia and has been pretty much living in a hospital for the past few months now. I want to bring him a gift and I want to write a greeting of some sort. I could use advice with both.
So what would be a suitable gift and a greeting for someone in a situation like that? I was thinking of bringing him some of my old adventure books, like Sinbad's Voyages and Treasure Island. Would that do? Used to love that shit when I was his age.
The greeting is more difficult, I've got no idea what to write.
Thanks.

The idea is a good one and you're a great person for this but I would consider staying with him and reading him the stories, just a thought :/

That's a nice idea, but I don't want to make it creepy, since I don't know him all that well. I was thinking his dad might read to him, if he's too weak to read himself.

Keep it short, simple and motivating. "Every hero has his hardships. Maybe these books will inspire you while you beat yours" or something of the sort.

Wow, that's a really nice greeting. Thanks, I just might use it.
Did you come up with it on your own, or is it a quote from somewhere?

Made it up, but I have had a lot of practice.
