>meet girl in one of my classes in college
>we share that one and only class on Friday
>for the last three times we would sit together and talk
>it's clear she's into me
>ask for her number
>now we will grab a bite on Thursday which is sort of a date
>suddenly realize that's on valentine's day
What do I do? I don't actually have to bring flowers or chocolate or mention anything about valentine's day at all, right? It would only be a thing to acknowledge and do something for if we had been already dating for a while right?

Sorry I meant Tuesday*
Shes a grill and obviously knows its Valentines day and has probably told her friends shes seeing you. Accept it like a man Anon and ask her if she wants it to be a date (she will probs say yes)

I have the feeling she already knows it's date
don't do anything special for Valentine's Day. you barely know her.

First of all, you should confirm the date. If you think it's on Thursday, you're going to stand her up. On Valentine's Day. That's not good.
Second, get her a single flower to remember the holiday. Do NOT get a red rose - that's for love. Get a yellow rose (friendship) or carnation.
Also, a potted tulip is a good intermediate gift. You can call it a springtime gift if she balks about V-Day.
Do NOT get her chocolate. Chemically, it's the same as giving her a little orgasm. You don't want to go there on the first date. Not sober, anyway.
This Tuesday, I'm going to get my date a scented handkerchief.
