Dont count on college being something of an extra benefit. Studying something for the sake of having a diploma is never a good path. You should do something you like or are interested in.

I'm not really sure what to spend it on to be honest. I already own all the material things I want except for books/manga. Travelling is tiring. My favourite foods aren't that expensive.

Money can't buy real friends at any rate and I don't like whores

When I was younger I worked too much but I've come to realize how important my time is to my own well being. I took a massive pay cut, $70K to $40K, but I have an incredible amount of freedom. It's crazy what I can get away with at work as long as I finish my projects.

What is your job?
retail management, run a small art business from home, and grow marijuana to see to a dispensary
How much do you make?
like 16/hr at my retail job, a few hundred a week from art sails, and the pot sails are dependent on how big of a crop I grow.
What kind of education/training did you do?
a GED and a 4year jewelers apprenticeship
How much debt do you have?
none just bills and kids
Do you have any regrets?
not really, i wish I could make more money with less work though. I feel like work all the time and really what I love most is just having time with my kids.

What advice do you have for someone like me who is in college but is not sure what to pursue?
find something you actually like doing and don't mind spending lots of time at. I hate my retail job but can't make enough to get by without it. it's best to not have to do something all day every day that you hate.

>High school teacher
>Average salary in my state is about 45-50K, I'm a new graduate so I'm getting around 30K though currently.
>Education
5 years university, most of it worthless. Out of those 5 years, I think there was a total of 10 courses that were actually helpful to me in the field, that actually taught me how to teach. The rest was just fluff, gen eds, or shit I would have just learned in student teaching anyway. Colllege is a scam, just the hoops you have to jump through to play the game of life though.
>Debt
I'm the spoiled rich bitch who's mommy and daddy gave me a free ride.
I am very thankful for it though, and I do intend to repay them one day.
>Regrets
mmm slightly? I guess. Now that I'm doing it, I feel like I'm not actually cut out for teaching. When I started college I was full of passion, but if college does anything at all it sucks all the life out of you. Now I feel like I'm just another one of those teachers that's just getting a paycheck. However, there are other times I love what I do. Idk what else I would have done either, probably translate or some sort of job that allows me to travel more. But the good news is I don't necessarily need a degree or anything to do that, so I can try to find translating jobs if I really wanted to at any time.
>Advice
There's no point in going to college if you aren't sure what you want to do 2bh. It'll be a waste of money, you'd be better off taking a year off, working, and doing some soul searching. If after that year though you still don't know, then I'd suggest finding the cheapest community college you can find, and just take a handful of classes in whatever you think you be interesting. Test the waters, then decide.

In the end, there's 2 routes I'd suggest. Do something you like (LIKE, not necessarily love, though love would be ideal) that will give you a liveable wage, or do something that will make you a ton of money so you can afford to have your hobbies in your spare time.

I wish I came out of my shell while or before university -- that way I would've networked a lot better. I mean, the gig I have right now is really good and there's a lot of potential to progress, if I haven't already. But I wish I got to know people more.

I know it's a lot to ask if you haven't, but just open up. Really get to know what your personality is, who you are, and then go out and meet people. It doesn't have to be parties or clubs, it can be clubs, volunteer, etc. Just be social so that it's easier come career time.

> What is your job?
Higher Embassy worker, working in PR

How much do you make?
~50k difficult to convert since I pay virtually no taxes due to diplomatic immunity

What kind of education/training did you do?
Three years trainee program at the academy of the Foreign Ministry - two thirds was theoretical/in school setting one third was training "on the job"

How much debt do you have?
None

Do you have any regrets?
Before applying at the ministry I spent two years studying History and English at University - which turned out to be a pretty bad idea.

I'm an "automotive vehicle coordinator." AKA i work at an auto auction driving cars around to different lots and areas depending on what work they need done before the auction.

I make $13.50 an hour.

No education needed. Just a drivers license. They trained me for like a day. Nothing much to the job. Just driving.

I have no debt. Im going to a community college for a communication arts/illustration degree.

No regrets. Im only 23 years old and have been attending community college for 4 years. Im working on various degrees and certifications.

My advice, study whatever you want but dont go to a big private or state college or university. Community colleges teach the same things but at a WAY cheaper cost and at your own pace.
On the side, i sell fanart merchandise at anime conventions. Its really fun. At big cons like Anime Expo, i make around $6k for that weekend alone.
I have a friend who went to an art school and has $440k in debt. She regrets it and says the only benefit is that you "make friends" in the art industry but it shouldnt cost you $440k to make friends or network because you can do that on your own. She works as a background artist for an adult swim cartoon and wishes she could have gone down a different artistic path.
Follow your dreams OP but dont pay thousands of dollars for it. Also have a small backup plan that allows you to still have time for what you love.
>>
Gonna start to study International Business dually, aka working + studying
1500€ per month (after taxes, and it'll increase the 2nd and 3rd years of study and after I get employed by the company)
A levels

My only regret is that I wish I could've learned that I could do my A levels by myself at home sooner before dicking around 2 "sorta-colleges" (our education system differs from that of the UK/US) which were very clearly not interested in supporting students at all.

Can't really give advice because I'm far from unbiased. We've never been really poor, enjoy lots of luxuries, but even so we're always just making it through since so far there's been 3 people (me, my mom and my piece of shit vile grandmother) living off only my mom's salary (almost 3k€). I'm just glad to be earning good money with more to come in the future. Never cared about liking my work, so long as I wouldn't work as butcher or something like that, just wanted money. I do the things I love in my spare time.

>What is your job?
Grad student...If you can call that a job.
>How much do you make?
$38k/year
>What kind of education/training did you do?
B.S. in physics
>How much debt do you have?
~$10k
>Do you have any regrets?
Staying in a shitty relationship for too long. Not taking school more seriously.
>What advice do you have for someone like me who is in college but is not sure what to pursue?
Take lots of different classes. Find a subject you enjoy enough to take even more classes of. I didn't go to college thinking I would major in physics. I knew I liked math so I took a bunch of math courses. The community college I started at required some science classes for your A.A. so I took chemistry and physics. Wasn't a huge fan of chemistry, but liked physics. Took the next intro physics class. By then I was convinced that I wanted to major in physics. I was nervous. Didn't know what people did with a degree in physics. I worked hard, figured out what I needed to do to be successful. I'm a published physicist now studying at the ivy league. I feel confident this is possible with most degrees, but it takes a lot of hard work. You need to do a lot more than just take classes. It isn't easy being successful.

>There's no point in going to college if you aren't sure what you want to do 2bh.
If you can afford it then I highly recommend it. If you can't then it is absolutely not the best idea to waste money figuring it out. However, this is exactly what gen eds are for, is finding out what you want to do with your life.

When you are studing try to think about the job you would like to do. Find the degree that would help you to be qualified to do that job, try to have realistic ambitions and expetactations about the future.
