Kind of like a phobia, ya gotta expose yourself to it. Desensitization, if you will. Start slowly by doing a couple of casual dates or outings with people. If it's really bad, tell this to a friend you trust and do "practice dates".

Im in the same situation as you op so I don't know exactly what to tell you.

How is your self esteem? I've noticed my fear comes from low self esteem. I find it hard to believe that people can be attracted to someone like me so every time someone tries to flirt I think they're just making fun of me.

going on a date is not a deal breaker, they go quite ok, but losing a topic on which to talk is kind of a bummer, that happens often. you know the things from which you can tell the interest of a person? like laughing from not that funny jokes, a little smile when getting into an eye contact, doing the thing with her hair between the fingers and so on. the thing is that moving from this kind of interaction further somewhere is somewhat impossible for me. what do? even engaging to hold hands.

I messed up about 2 months ago with a pretty woman. Im 23 shes 27. I am Just like you exept I know how to take the next step. Im scared to take it I dont know why.
