It is said that Polygamy is illegal in most western states. but polygamy shows that being the act of being married to more than one wife. so would it still fall under polygamy if you are married to one woman and not the other but still life together?

the government doesn't tend to get itself involved unless theres some really crazy circumstanes. as long as you ddont go full mormon with multiple wives all having your kids in the same household the government doesnt care there is too much to worry about that someone who is living in a trilationship literally doesn;t matter

I don't know, I've never really looked into the details because I have no interest in it. But like I said, if you do have more than one partner, things can get super messy legally.
