The company I work for are updating their website and today I had an email from the head normie in the office saying everyone has to have their photos taken ("No hiding!").
Is it autistic or narcissistic if I ask to be exempt from this? I will likely be the only person who complains. I had to make a linkedin also but I used my middle name and didn't include a photo or details.
I don't have social media and don't like having any personal about myself on the internet. I just don't see a reason why I, a bottom-of-the-totem-pole autist who essentially does data entry should have to smile and all the rest of it and have the photo online forever.

They can't make you. If you really are against it, you have to tell your boss, in person, your reasons against it. Trying to email that conversation will make you sound even more ridiculous than you already do.
But bear in mind, you can't come back from something like this, in the mind of your management/bosses. You're going to always be thought of as the weird guy. The weird guy doesn't get promotions, doesn't get the raises he may deserve, and he definitely doesn't get the glowing recommendation he might need when he looks for another job.
If you don't care at ALL about how your professional peers view you, then by all means, raise a stink about your photo. I'm not saying it's right for them to judge or consider you an outcast. That's how the world works.

Why do I sound ridiculous? I am not client-facing, I'm just in the corner doing data stuff. I'm not a smiley person and I work this job to make rent. Also, I'm practically already the weird guy. I don't really mind if people think "there he goes again" I just want to know exactly how rude I'm being.
Also I've been at the company since it started, and my boss (not the guy taking the photos) knows I'm a quiet guy and will definitely give me a good reference in future if necessary.
Also I don't want to "raise a stink", I was thinking of sending an email that says:
>"Hi X, I'd prefer not to have my photograph taken if that's ok. Thank you, Anon"
Is that ok?
I'd appreciate as many responses as possible.
I really don't want to do this.
Please respond.
Just take the picture some times I life it's good to stand apart from the crown but in this situation you will only make yourself look like a weirdo and weirdos get passed over for promotions

OP here. I'm not interested in promotions and my employer knows that the job isn't something that I aspire to in life. He's a nice guy, but the guy in charge of marketing is a super normie.

I hate companies like this (maybe I shouldn't). I see a job and go to the company's website and see it's full of pictures of their "teams"... all people a lot younger than me and I immediately assume I won't fit in.
But go ahead and get your picture taken. It's no big deal.
It's really not an issue. You are making yourself more of a potential target by being the profile that stands out. And it's not like anyone is more focused on your profile or picture than you are. Your thoughts run wild while nobody else's does.

then quit and get one somewhere else.
