It's recently unfolded on me that my brother is an alcoholic and has been for years. It's gotten extremely serious in the past weeks. He moved in with me a few months back and was very good at hiding his problem. Today, I've learned that I'm the enabler for his problem. What should I do? Should I kick him out? How do I make sure my parents don't allow him back in their house?

It's really difficult at this point. I feel used, I don't trust him, and I'm enabling him by letting him live here for free and allowing him to not meet his end of the deal because I feel bad for him. He won't get better unless he wants to get better. He has not actively made that choice.

I've tried. My parents are in denial that he has a real problem and won't participate. They have let him live being an alcoholic for years by denying that anything is wrong. I tried to intervene today but he was too drunk to understand me. If he becomes homeless I'm very worried he will pick up a habit worse than just drinking.
