Getting sued after a car accident. Letter says to tell insurance. Should I hire a lawyer and counter? It seems like theyre trying to get money from the insurance since insurance may not bother with fighting.

Why would you waste the time if your insurance will pay for it?

They're shady pieces of shit. Why would I let them cause an accident and then get money out of it over false/fake injuries?

I had a bigger loss than them in the accident.

Generally you pass it on to your insurance and they take it from thier pay your excess. However it depends if you think you were at fault. The insurers will gernerally make a call based on information you give them. If you are at fault your premiums will go up...alot for a long time, unless no claims bonus. If your not you should get tour excess back.

You can make a claim against them know as a cross claim, this is routine. Your insurer will often want do this as well for you as they don't want ro pay if the case has legs. I have forced insurers to pay for a laywer for clients by haveing the client say they will start a case and slef represent and if they lose of course they will be indeminfied by the insurance for losses. This is maybe not techincally always correct depending on the policy but it typically gets your insurer to pay for a laywer and lodge a cross claim.
