Someone mentioned and called me out on my name few days ago perfectly fine on a different board than /adv/. Naturally in my native language. Mind you, I never posted personal information at all and was just debating. My name is not regular thus I don't consider 'luck' or 'guessing' in this case.
What in the world happened and how?
Just imagine yourself posting and debating on a different board, suddenly someone calls you out with your name in your native language. You never posted anything personal at all.
I was scared shitless.
So, how was this possible?

Perhaps your computer or phone is infected?

I swear it happened. I'm not imaging things.

I'm pretty careful and was upgrading a day prior to a fresh *nix distro (debian). Plus the fact that someone is at the same on 4chan on the same thread...mh.

My guess would be that you used an image that the person was able to Reverse image search for, or had some other data in it that they were able to ascertain (mobile data from a cell phone pic, perhaps).
In which case, it'd be pretty easy to trace a picture back to a Facebook or some other link to you.
If you never posted with an image... then I dunno. Pretty spoopy.

Just posted a repost of a picture I found on on 4chan once. Nothing with EXIF data, nothing personal and I'm not using social media at all.
It's actually really weird. Made me pretty curious and intimidated at the same time.

Maybe one of your irl friends called you out

Either this or you got hacked somehow. A little IP can go a longggggg way my dude. Bit of advice: don't genuinely piss people off here because like %90 of them fall on the spectrum and also have WAY too much time on their hands.
Any way you could dig up that thread on archive or your history? I'd like to help you.
