My brother plays A LOT of minecraft. I'm not sure whether it's my place to try to do anything about it.
I'd estimate he plays around 16 hours a day. He still occasionally hangs out with friends; when he buys weed/oil he hangs out with them for an hour or so.
Our family is financially stable, and he works when it's necessary. I want to say he does what he has to do so what he does with his time is his "business", but I'm concerned.
I walk into his room and it's littered with trash. He's getting fat. He seems to be having a good time though. I hear him laugh at night. Then again, he's high almost every waking moment.
What am I dealing with here? Does this sound like the kind of thing I just accept?

If we shared any similarities, it would be that we play video games because we have no idea what other hobbies to engage in, so maybe hang out with him and do some things together? Encourage him to join clubs or something like that?

Is that really constructive though? If not games what else would he do? Prior to this he would spend most of his time hanging out with goons and hard druggies(no disrespect intended).

I'd be enormously less concerned if it was a game that was something that could translate into other things(even if that other thing was other videogames). At least if he played an fps, he would be good at other fps.
If he had a general interest in video games in general, I'd be at peace.
If he GOT GUD, I'd be at peace.
I'm incredibly concerned that he's going through some stupid shit like measuring himself based on "what he has built on minecraft".

Well I was hoping if he did some shit with his brother he'd find a hobby he enjoys. I'm not suggesting for him to go up to his brother and say "get yer ass out of that chair and lets throw the ol' pigskin around". If he loves playing vidya he'll keep playing it, but eventually they get fucking boring and he'll have to ask himself "Oh shit now what?"
