My "best friend" is shady, rude, and doesn't care for me whatsoever. She just treats her other, more temporary friends with more respect and openness. Not to mention, I am absolutely sure she talks shit about me to them. Her need for attention eclipses her intrinsic feeling of self-worth. I can't get any sadder.

She's not your best friend then. Stop talking to her and understand that being good to other people doesn't give them an excuse to treat you like shit. She'll probably only contact you once you stop caring about her attention.

I think it's the fact that they get really comfortable with you, seeing as they are your best friend. And that fake niceness just ends I guess?
I don't know, I'm trying to rationalize his and her behavior but it's useless.
