Why?

Warehouse work sucks balls. It's full of corruption, and corperate always shafts warehouse workers as hard as they can. Illegally, sometimes, if they think they can get away with it.

I mean, I had to drop my hours due to stress.
I'm looking for another job, and an amazon one has opened up near me.

Fuck it, beggars can be choosers though, amazon has one of the worst reputations for pulling shit like this. Working part time for a company that tried to force me to quit three times over is still better than what I'd get there.

There are two ways to join the meatgrinder: through the temp agency or through their direct hire.

The temp agency Amazon uses in my area is called Integrity. They hire intermittently throughout the year and will take anyone with all of their limbs in November. Bad news: January and February is the slow part of the year. You can put your name in with the agency, but they may not call you for a few months.

Direct Hires happen mostly at the end of summer when Amazon tries to reduce the ratio of temps to associates. You effectively pass GO and collect $200. White badges (temps) get all the scrutiny in the building where blue badges (Amazon associates) only get reprimanded (let alone fired) for making themselves a problem.

Amazon is draconian when it comes to converting their temps to full associates, but if you're doing your job, you fly under the radar. Leadership is too concerned with numbers to make any trouble for people making an effort. There are always enough people being assholes that the little things slide.

Promotion is a joke, but if you're just after a summer job that pays decent for the zero investment you need to make to get the job, Amazon is fine.
