Hi guys.
I have this weird "fear" of alcohol. Whenever I'm out with friends I'm always the one who doesn't drink. Same goes for parties etc. There is something inside of me that tells me not to drink for no particular reason. My only guess is the fact that I've never gotten drunk before and I don't know how would it feel. I've never had any problems with alcohol in my family, so that's not the case. Any ideas where that "fear" comes from?
Btw I've revently turned 18 which is a legal drinking age in my country so it's not that either.
Well believe me OP, i have a fear of talking to girls at bars. How silly isn't that?

Talking to girls requires some social skills, sense of humour etc. So it's understandable that one can be afraid of doing it.
But if drinking one shot of vodka is too scary for me it's just kinda weird and makes no sense.

It's a phobia.
The cure is to just do it.

are you AFRAID of drinking or do you just not want to?
people often mistake a lack of desire or just simple disdain for fear.
like dating. if a guy feels like being single or doesn't want to take things to the next level with a woman they say 'WELL HE MUST HAVE A FEAR OF COMMITMENT'. its a simple thing people have done to make others feel lesser.
a lot of men aren't afraid of commitment, they just aren't particularly interested in committing to THAT person.
maybe you're not afraid of alochol, you just have a sense taht says 'dont do this' and you listen.
im the same way with pot. all my friends smoke it, and i love the smell (i purposely aim for roommates and dates who do smoke it occassionally because I do enjoy the smell) but something in me says 'no, don't do that'. not cuz im afraid, but because, well i havent wanted or needed it yet, so why do it? probably something to do with my upbringing. typical 'D.A.R.E.' classes and such. but you can argue against that cuz i also have no issues with porn despite insistence that it was awful.
some people are mature enough and intuitive enough to look at hte facts of something and say 'tihs isn't for me' even if everyone else says its good. and they can also say 'this is for me' when parents tell them its bad.
some people just have a compass. not a moral one per se. just one that guide sthem through life.
nothing wrong with that. and if it changes later thats fine too.

This
Do it and hate it and you'll never have to drink again or worry about it because you tried it

You should probably drink a beer by yourself so you know how it feels to be tipsy. People will offer them to you all the time in a few years. There will be a time in your life where wine is served to you at a fancy dinner or event and you dont want to be the one white girl wasted after a couple glasses having to give a short speech.

If I think about it now, it's actually more towards "I don't want to" rather than "I'm afraid to".
I guess I will have to force myself to just try how it all feels. Thanks guys.
