>Starting to think it's ok to be in constant anguish from depression/anxiety because it makes me mentally stronger
Is this a stupid idea?
Holy shit lmao I had the same mindset a while ago. I think it worked fine but obviously not the best way. You don't wanna make yourself depressed for no reason

Yes.
The brain does work like a muscle.
Straining a muscle will make it stronger. Constantly straining a muscle will create spasms and muscular imbalance.
Straining and then relaxing a muscle is the healthy way to make it grow.
The same is true for your brain. Periods of stress and strain should be balanced by periods of relaxation and decompression, if you want to grow in a healthy way.
Anxiety and depression is a hurdle. Curbing it is leaping over it.
Keep doing that and youll be leaping over it like it an Olympic athlete.

As one who struggles with depression and anxiety, yes, we are very strong however, constantly staying stuck in the depressed/anxious mindset is unhealthy both physically and mentally.

To be honest i just came here for the planes. But i can somewhat say youre right. Ive dealt with alot of social and personal hardships by myself and it seema that i can handle things alot better overall than my peers can. Like if something comes up in bills that is a real strain i just find a solution and deal with it but my wife goes overboard with emotions.
