I don't just listen to music, no. The real joy actually comes from when I'm playing. Of course I'm far from the best pianist out there, but I already play and compose on software. I just haven't actually published anything.
So far I was indeed seeing this only as a hobby, but I came to the realization that maybe I can make something else from this.

If you have no connections in the industry, your chances to fail (or to live a miserable life doing exhausting gigs for little money and little recognition, at best) are extremely high.

You might consider a career that's more sound, and based around a product people will buy (and not stream for free on YouTube or Spotify, if they ever stream it).

Put in 10,000 hours of practice then release some recordings.

covers are free to produce these days, you just pay a simple royalty to the original creator. look up the process, everyone on youtube does it.
