I'm not exactly masculine but I'm not gay and the thought of it even for a millisecond will disgust me. But she asked me if I was gay and she said it in a way that put a lot of pressure on me. I just said "I'm shy" and she seemed to like it lmao

So what's the correct answer when a girl asks if your gay. Why does she even ask in the first place?

are you broadly the metrosexual type or something op? you probably dont have a very masculine presence or build, are too nice or agreeable, have uncommon hobbies or a combination of these things.

the right answer is obviously to be honest. don't let it bother you. even if you aren't gay, people will think "the lady doth protest too much, methinks". you'll just appear defensive and confirm what she thinks.
