Cattle (and calf), goat, sheep (and lamb), horse, rabbit, hare, pig, boar, deer, chicken, duck, goose, turkey, guinea-fowl.

I like lamb and rabbit.

In a good supermarket or a restaurant specialised in certain types of meat.

useful reply

i heard that rabbit meat is too hard and no fat. u say its tasty huh?
>>
beef (including heart), chicken (including heart), pork, lamb/sheep, deer, boar, duck, quail adult/eggs, pheasant, marrow/blood, mealworms, cricket

Boar is tough but like a more intense pork.
Deer is kinda gummy but good taste.
Quail is light and flavorful with really good eggs, duck is really rich, pheasant is my favorite but hard to find.
Heart is very potent. Chicken heart was amazing, beef heart is too much for me.

Bone marrow basically tastes like when you lick a cut, only bigger flavor. I hear it's amazing when prepared the french way, but I never tried it.

Crickets were really not my thing. Mealworms seem gross but aren't bad in a stir-fry with other stuff.

How's horse?
>>
>>17893460
I also heard from my dad that rattlesnake tastes like overcooked chicken. Can't verify that myself.
>>
>>17893410
Weirdo
>>
>>17893440
If it is cooked properly, it is amazing.
My grandma cooks it in the oven, very slowly, with oil and white wine. Some olives and herbs, some veggies and it tastes amazing.
It is not fat, no.

>>17893464
It tastes weirdly sweet, but good. Healthy for sure.
>>
>>17893431
You've surely eaten various types of fish and crustaceans I imagine. You seem to have tasted quite a bit of land animals though.

>>17893410
Remember good meat doesn't need to be dressed up either. They shouldn't be seasoned with more than a few spices. You want to taste the meat.

Wild game has a particular taste too. Due to the diet and lifestyle of those animals. Some people are turned off by it. Personally I love deer sausage with a little jalapeno mixed in.

>You've surely eaten various types of fish and crustaceans I imagine.
Heh, not really. I am not crazy for fish and crustaceans.
I started eating some this year, but basically never eaten much of it.

I had.. shrimp, lobster, squid, cuttlefish, octopus, scallop, mussel, clam, oyster, crab, seabass.
I think that's it.
>>
>>17893508
You gotta try salmon. Cod is pretty good too. Trout is good. Tilapia sucks. Fried catfish is delicious. It's kind of considered a poorman's fish and a lot of people don't like it cause they're bottom feeders but so are crabs and lobsters...But if you're not really into fish at least eat salmon it doesn't really taste like most fish and it's really good for you. Crawfish are good too but a pain in the ass to eat.
>>
>>17893460
in reference to an earlier post, I forgot fish:

Salmon, tuna, trout, flounder, sockeye, walleye, eel, mahi mahi, whitefish, anchovies, octopus, squid, shrimp, lobster, blue crab, caviar, flying fish roe, escargot

Excargot is nasty. Caviar is basically fancy salt water in bubbles. Flying fish roe, though, is delicious.

As for fish, tuna and salmon are my favorites.
>>
>>17893410
I really like aligator meat as far as exotic meats go. There's an abundance of them in my area and a couple restaurants that specialize. It's somewhat similar to chicken in taste, but with a nicer consistance.

>>17893469
Snakes generally taste a bit like chicken too, but I never had rattlesnake. Most end up a bit dry when cooking, it seems difficult to do it right.

However, in the end of the day, lamb is still the most delicious meat imo.
>>
>>17893535
Trout, tuna, flounder and certain cuts of shark are my top favorites. Salmon is only good if wild. Farm salmon is quite inferior in taste and health benefits (no omega 3 at all).
>>
>>17893524
I will try! The smell of fish sickens me. I don't even mind the taste, but the fucking smell... God. My dad was the same, now he basically eats just fish.
My friend suggested we try sushi, because it doesn't taste like that. Have you ever tried? Good idea for a fish newbie?
>>
>>17893557
Sushi is very good, but there is a certain texture to it that might put off the uninitiated. Have you ever eaten raw meat? Cooking makes it a little stiffer and more fibrous, while when it's raw it's soft and squishy and gummy.

My suggestion is to first try a salmon filet, baked with butter and lemon and pepper.
>>
>>17893557
If you're going to try sushi, start with california rolls. They're not very fishy, usually only having a small piece of crab (or imitation crab, which is a composite of a few types of fish meat). They're a good way to try the rice and the seaweed and other sushi ingredients without diving right into the fish.

Then you can go up to other kinds. Nigiri is the kind with lots of fish on it, and sometimes a bit of horseradish.

Eel sushi is also a good place to start. It's usually served cooked, with teriyaki sauce, and is a little chickenlike.
>>
>>17893585
And I forgot, sashimi is just the raw fish. no rice or seaweed of any kind.
>>
>>17893569
I like to add a little bit of cayenne pepper to my lemon butter salmon for a little extra kick, but that's just a preference. Freshly ground black pepper should be used though. Soy sauce and honey makes for a good salmon marinade too. Little bit of pepper, soy sauce (preferably Maggi seasoning sauce actually), and honey. Bake it at 420 F for about 10-15 minutes depending on the size.

I'll eat sushi but it's really not that good in my opinion because I'm all about textures and sushi is just cold mush most of the time. The flavors are good and the sauces can really make them good but it's all cold mush to me. Soft shell crab sushi is probably my favorite because you get a little crunch to it.
>>
>>17893557
As some anons suggested, some sushi have less fish than others, but if you go to a more modern Japanese restaurant, you'll find plenty of sushi that don't include fish at all.
I go to this one place that has a strawberry and nutella sushi that is their number one most popular desert. As mentioned, getting used to the seaweed is way easier when the sushi already has something you like in it. After that you may be more adventurous and go for the fish. For western first-timers, picks with cream cheese and other typically western toppings can ease things tremendously.

I've eaten just about everything that can be shot locally. Pheasant, grouse, partridge, pigeon, muntjac (a kind of miniature deer), rabbit - the only thing I've shot and not eaten is rat, and I'm not about to change that any time soon. Had some less common farmed meats, like venison, llama and boar. There's a shop in the next village down run by a south african family, and I've had all of their "exotic" meats they sell at one point or another - kangaroo, springbok, ostrich, alligator (or it might have been crocodile, can't remember), and some sort of buffalo. All the freshwater game fish you can catch here (a few different trout, plus migratory salmon), as well as eel, pike, and perch, hover they're called "coarse" fish for a reason, and eating anything out of the river Thames is something you'd only want to try once. Lastly I've had just about every type of fish you can catch on a rod and line in our costal waters, up to and including shark and conger.

All of this food is "okay" - it isn't bad, but most of it isn't particularly good either. There is a very good reason that supermarkets these days only sell pork, beef, lamb, chicken, cod, haddock and plaice.
>>
>>17893569
I dont mind raw meat and mushy things at all. So maybe there is a chance.

>>17893592
I'll try the salmon in the next few days (read: I'll make my mom cook it) and it turns out nice I'll report back :)

>>17893585
Thank you! I always feel super incompetent and give up on sushi when my friends invite me, maybe next time I'll go.
>>
>>17893410
>how can i find different animal meats?

Your local ethnic food store. You can try pigeon, silkie, frog, grub, snail, armadillo, etc.
