been there and let me tell you son, the only thing, and i mean the ONLY thing that you need to change is your perspective.

you, like me as a kid, probably spend a good chunk of your life worrying what other people thought and trying to modulate your behavior to be appropriate. its not worth it. go on an experiment and live for a little while without caring. once you get the hang of it, its pretty easy, and there are few downsides and a TON of upsides.

Sometimes, my good buds from high school (the ones who moved away for work or school) come into town and hit me up. It was always fun.

I'd say go for it.

You have social anxiety. I do too. I haven't figured out how to fix the lifelong accumulation of crappy habits associated with it yet, but maybe one of the things I try might eventually help before I end up impoverished or suicidal.
