How do I get over being affected by other people's opinions/perception..
for example I have a friend who's visiting me soon haven't seen him in 3 years he's been traveling around a lot and will be visiting me from the country he is in at the new state I moved to a few years ago. The problem is I am always worried that he won't like it here, he always bitches about how he googled where I live and thinks it looks horrible. He has no filter and is pretty closed minded in certain aspects of his personality. I struggle with this as well but not to that extent.
My question is how the fuck do I stop caring so much about what this friend will think.. my brain constantly goes to that place and I always think •why am I thinking this way•. almost to the point of obsession.

next time he criticizes something about you just double down about how great it is. do this constantly until he stops negging.
>ur house is shit
no its great, are you fucking stupid?
>ur clothes r ugly
my shirt is fly
>ur thoughts r dumb
nah man, you just have to THINK about things the RIGHT way, then youll agree with me
it sounds like you lack basic confidence
he sounds like a fuckwit

So become opinionated yourself to combat it?

more or less. you can also just tell him to shut the fuck up.

He is.
If I express any sense of "love" for anything that he doesn't like he will go off on a rant or give me one word answers.
I like to drink a few beers sometimes...
his response
alcohol gucking sucks beer is for rednecks u need to try mushrooms ur whole world will change!!!

Lol.
Your friend sounds like a total autistic. Normal people do not act that way. Being strongly opinionated on what other people do with their lives and what they enjoy is a sign of autism. Ever seen the meme where it says - WHY DONT YOU LIKE THE SAME THINGS I LIKE?
He sounds very childish. Maybe don't talk to him as much.
