Why is my Wifi not password protected all of the sudden? It

i managed to set a new password and secure my connection.

but i still have no idea how my original password went away

public vs private networks aren't about whether they have passwords. It's just changing how your firewall operates (on windows, IDK about other OS). Windows Firewall has public rules and private rules.
