Can't find anything on this need some enlightenment; I'm 62.5% Irish, 25% English and an 1/8th Scottish. I was born in England and I still currently live here.
If I were to say immigrate to the United States and become a US citizen would I be considered an Irish-American or British-American?
It would be based off your previous citizenship
Russian American would include both Russian Jews and Slavs from Russia

You'll be considered American. Whatever you tell people after that is up to you.
Why does this matter?

Whichever you like, really.

legally? Brittish american.
but in america when we say something like that (for instance, african american) we are basically saying where that person hailed from generations ago. no one will consider you an american even if you vote and have citizenship.
you'll still just be brittish.
as for waht you tell people it all varies. most white people will say
'well i was born in north carolina, but my mothers from new york, my dads from oregon, on his side its mostly russians and on he rside its a mix of cherokkee and irish.
shit like that
