Depending on where you live, you can ask the doctor to try prescriptions. Unfortunately I can't do that in Canada. The doctor will do a series of tests on you and evaluate it. He will then decide whether it is the right fit and put you on a trial.

he will ask you questions, be honest, mention your suicidal thoughts but if you think he misjudges you, just straight out ask for medication

Be honest, open up entirely. If you disagree with something (either in medication on speech therapy), say so. And if you feel you aren't a good match with your therapist, look for another one. Not all psychologists or psychiatrists are good.

Although I think anti depressants can be very beneficial, I do want to prepare you that getting off them is hard. Not because you're "addicted", but because you feel depressed x 10 when you do (even when you build them off gradually). That's what I wasn't prepared for, and it was really contradictive. I felt great and ready to get off the meds, but when I did the withdrawel made me feel like I couldn't possible do without them. It's a progress you can overcome as long as you're prepared for it.

Those pills are sure to fry your noodle and we'll all be watching you spazz out on a rampage at a local elementary school or something. You're depressed for a reason. Reach down deep, confront it and change your behaviour.
