I've been told I exhibit sociopathic traits and tendencies, such as being manipulative and lacking empathy/sympathy, yet I still feel guilt and remorse. What does this mean?

Who the fuck told you that

My mom who is a doctor always said I was a sociopath. Student of psychiatry and so on, pretty much confirmed.
The thing is, you can feel such emotions. If you focus on them enough, you feel guilt and remorse. In fact you feel it way sharper because you usually get distracted too fast to feel them properly in most cases.
ex: i broke up with my gf 7 months ago, then a few months later realized what a stupid thing it was and it tortures me. And guess what? should've never told her that in trust, so now she never trusts me again and never wants to talk to me again.
