Nationalism literally means putting your own country above other so there can never be even ground.
No nationalist would allow a higher legal power than that of their own nation, it wouldn't be a system inherent to their nation hence imperfect since in nationalism their nation is the best.

You can assume certain things but currently there hasn't been a proven way of achieving world peace so any recommendation would need to be put to test.

Nationalism already was, ww1 if you remember started as a separatist nationalist killing a sovereign and the Balkan wars also stem from separatist and nationalist agenda.
It might work for a single country although that has yet to be proven also but never for many

Here is why nationalism is stupid, it's not objective. A nationalist will make an objectively wrong choice because it is subjective to his nation the correct choice. Knowingly making a wrong choice out of principle is stupid and shouldn't be encouraged. Also you'd have to put the opinion of other nationals before those of non-nationals, imagine someone saying the earth is flat or the moon is the backside of the moon and now imagining having to be his backup when someone calls him stupid but you have to disagree just because the one saying he is stupid is not a fellow national of yours.
