It might sound like a generic answer but just going out and doing things used to help me get over it almost completely, especially exercise.

Then life happens and things get worse than they ever were before and nothing will help you escape the spiral. There's no point, just keep going and hope things improve.

WARNING~~~~PROTIPS~~~WARNING

From the most helpful to the least (but still helpful)

1. Aquire non drama queen gf that loves you -and you love her too-, supports you emotionaly and provides often and high quality Sex.

2. Exercise regularly. Hormones etc.. Even if you dont have motivation 1-3 5min high intensity workouts throughout the day will give you that chemical mood boost. Ideally at least 20min workout per day.

3. Eat balanced. For depression: whole grain carbs, low sugars, high protein and some fat is basic. Also eat regularly (perhaps smaller meals) every 3-4 hours. Keep dat blood sugar balanced.

4. Get at least 8 hours sleep per day.

5. Go out, stay out, meet non toxic friends, relatives, do social things.

6.Cut down as possible excessive use of Porn and other addictive behaviours and substances.

7. Give advice, help other people. Good for your self esteem.

8. Hobbies and interests. Find them.

9. Take care of and love yourself. Buy new clothes, eat something delicious, look after your hygiene etc

10.Find more ways to laugh and smile. If not possible forcing laughs and your smiling muscles, even smiling when you see yourself in the mirror is a mood booster.


*1~11 (This can rank top on the list depending on how severe the depression is, anxiety, etc is) THERAPY(and if necessary, medication)

I've been depressed since I was 9. It's just been worse every year since then. From being molested to having a dysfunctional family, to dropping out of high school, going to a CC, transferring to a good uni only to fucking collapse, have a nervous breakdown and fuck up I've had enough. My goal was med school but there is probably no fucking way I could ever even get in now despite scoring high on the section of the MCAT that is the best predictor of physician success. A 3.0 don't mean shit to med schools in a capitalist society. When my mom dies I am blowing my brains out. Only reason I am not killing myself today is because it would cause her pain. Once she's gone I'm ending it, fuck the rest of em. Nice bird btw I used to have a similar one when i was a kid, he only liked me and would nip and try to get away from anyone else in my family

This is 4chan's advice board. I dont post often. Im no normie. Ive gone through some rough phases in my life..Through the years ive taken some good advice browsing /adv/ so this is my way of giving back: a high quality advice post.

From these protips one can do whatever is possible in his situation. Its true that a good, loving gf and good quality sex is the most helpful condition to have if you are depressed. If cant get gf go to next tip. No matter how depressed you are, you can make a little exercise. But you have to push yourself to do it. You cant magicaly get out of depression just by reading advice on the internet. You ll have to make changes yourself.

But if you just want to wallow in your misery and insult people....

Fuck You and your negativity off /adv/ and go back to... /b/ perhaps? ;)

If you're depressed for longer than a month you're lacking in one or more of those areas. Fix them and become un depressed. Anyone who argues otherwise is talking out of their shitter and arguing against 120 years of science and medicine so they don't feel bad about not treating themselves.

Looks like you were the same as me: NEET failure who didn't know he was depressed, but came to terms with it and treated it.
Note that I've now become successful and run my own business, spent 10 months in the gym and look the best I've ever looked and plenty more. I went from being a mentally lethargic piece of masturbatory shit to the best I've ever been in my life and the worst part is how easy it was.
