Well to be upfront it certianly sounds like it is. I understand that it sucks to be bored. BUT it shouldnt be uncomfortable to be alone or quiet. If its absolutly terrifying to be the one in the group that dosnt say anything or you cant stand silence in a conversation, thats a good indicator that youre the problem.

I normally speak with people fine, although people do describe me as quiet at times. I go to the gym, I like literature and history, and I play guitar and piano. I don't think I'm boring. I'm not constantly joking either, I do have serious conversations occasionally. No one ever wants to hang out with me though.

i can kinda relate, thinking back to my distant past (I'm 30 now). In middle school I was funny as hell and had lots of friends, in high school my humor didn't translate that well and for some reason I didn't update it. I would have been better off not trying to be funny at all.

as you get older, most people have a shtik that works for them, and some people will think of something funny every now and then, and a very few people will just be naturally clever constantly and make everyone jealous.

But nobody likes a "machine for making jokes" (bonus internet points if you get that reference). Work on being calm and cool and other attributes instead of humor for a while.

you should probably try branching out and making friends who share your interests and values. I never had much luck with this, but I didn't try nearly as hard as I should have.

I'll always find girls and people who say "oh yeah, I love political philosophy and books and stuff, too" but we never click because our temperaments aren't very similar.
