How do you get over the nostalgia of the good ol' days?
I miss video games being fun and just being content to spend an evening watching TV.

When you don't realize the possibilities of the world due to being a child you think that spending a day playing Vidya is a great thing to do. Now that you're an adult you are cognizant of what you could be doing instead so when you choose to play Vidya all day you are consciously giving up doing something more productive.
Tldr growing up sucks.

This.
You're not content because you realize there's more to life. Video games and TV will always be fun, but those two things aren't enough to satisfy anybody with any ambition to them, honestly. You have to go for goals, or at the very least find something new and riveting.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. I'm creeping depressingly close to 30 without much to show for it apart from a decent job.

You have a decent job, take pride in that. Seriously, I read threads on here all the time of people 30+ that work a minimum wage job and can't afford to leave their shitty backwater job.
I know you're unsatisfied with life at the moment, but having a decent job and being able to provide for yourself and treat yourself puts you in a better position than most. Do you have an unrealized passion? Something you always wanted to do?

Don't get me wrong, some weekends I just say fuck it and play vidya all weekend and it's so cathartic. But most weekends are spent out doing things...

I don't think you should stop playing video games because they're obviously an important part of your life but perhaps carve out some time to do other things like school or socializing or something.

No? I wanted to make video games as a kid but it's very time-consuming and hard to do after working a standard job.

I still play Hearthstone daily and I go to an art class once a week.
