How do I either find or a new job, or toughen up mentally?
I work customer service, $11 an hour, but it's so stressful dealing with shitty people. I fucking hate dealing with "guests".
If I stay, what can I do to make it easier? If I leave, what alternative job can I look for? I'm in college, have a good resume, can be extremely professional.
please help.
Where do you work?
Understand that everyone is stupid and that even you yourself might have your moments. Also try to avoid assuming the customer knows what they're doing the way you know just because you work there. Just try to be positive and you'll have a better time. I've been in the customer service industry for 11 years now.

Thanks. I'll try to be more positive. Do you enjoy working with people?

Treat it as a game and keep score. Every customer who goes away happy is a win for you. Play each round with the goal of scoring the point.

I should've eleborated. I don't mind happy customers. It's the drunk and shitty assholes whom I can't fucking stand.
Drunk kids and bitchy old people. I had a long talk with a dean of a college I don't want to name who was telling me all about his school's new pilot program and how I should sign up. I've also met some obscure celebrities as this is a 5-star hotel in a super nice area. But those encounters don't make up for the barrage of shitheads I deal with on the regular.
I'm looking online and thinking about applying some places as transcriptionist if it's what I think it is. I'm also interested in government work as my local city hall is hiring. I've looked into being a travel agent as well but travel agencies look all but dead, at least locally.
