I can't say "I love you" to my mom. It's like my brain totally rejects the notion of doing it. Her and I have an extremely tumultuous relationship, but I unequivocally do love her, but I just can't express it. What makes it really difficult is that I then can't say it to anyone else because it feels wrong to tell someone that when I won't to someone I care for even way more.
I'm not so much looking for advice on how to tell my mom that so much as just general outlook.
It's just a word nigger just say it.

Spend time with her, then it will come naturally.

I feel you...same thing over here, but for whole family...even sibling...

I spent more than two decades with her.
I have never said I love you to either of my sisters and I didn't feel comfortable saying it to my mother until I was around 10-13 I think. Probably something in my head I don't even understand from parents splitting when I was real young

Lots of people have trouble saying that because it sounds so chintzy or artificial. So say it without saying it. Give her little gifts, do her little favors, do things that make her proud, let greeting cards say it for you.
She'll get the message.
