Could use some general advice fellas

>Lead engineer at a company
>Couple of recent projects have been going successfully and coming to an end.
>I decided to let me managers know about how the staff I am working with and what they have done for us has been very good work
>Tell our dept manager we should have a pizza party or something at work
>We do this every couple of months, and I think as a way to show appreciation at least lunch is on the company this time,
>My manager is sending a report to upper management and we are going to do it
>I brought this up because the people I work with honestly have been doing a great job
>My manager says good job etc..

I feel weird about this

I am not a manager and I recommende to management that our staff could use a little food, office relationship building, and just a day we ca take a long lunch and enjoy our time at work
