How do I keep a conversation going? I've never really had people to talk to before, so I never really learned how to have a conversation with people. Just recently I've moved to a new neighborhood and I don't want to repeat that. I know the basics, who are you, where are you from, oh really what's that etc, but past that I have no idea what I'm doing.

After what you described, you should have discovered some stuff about the other person. Ask about that.
Ex: They say where they are from, so you ask about that place. That way you get more info and more things to talk about.

Okay but happens after? Do I banter with them? After you know each other for a while, what do you talk about then?

Do a little homework. Each Sunday buy a good big city Sunday paper and spend a couple of hours reading it from cover to cover, including the sections you are not interested in.
This will keep you current on everything people chat about, from news to sports to TV to gossip, so that wherever a conversation turns, you'll have something to say.

Yes. Inform yourself about local news and learn where the streets are.

I have the same problem as yours anon, and from what my research shows (from intensive eavesdropping) after the small talk, you tell something or a story WHICH IS OF SIGNIFICANCE GIVEN THE DATA YOU HAVE RECIEVED FROM THE SMALL TALK. Say, if he says he lives in new york, don't randomly tell a story about a black amputee sucking with a toilet seat porn. You tell a story about when you are in new york. If you have not got any clues about what he'd be interested in through small talk, go sherlock on him. Notice the little things he has. Small keychains, pins, tattoos ANYTHING that could be a representation if his interests. And also, watch some videos of alpha m on youtube. He helped me alot.

You need to pick "threads" from what they say. "I'm going to watch a movie with Anon tomorrow night." The threads are movie, Anon, and tomorrow. "What movie?" "How's Anon doing?" "Got any other plans tomorrow?"
