I don't think OP's gf even realized how this sounds to other people and she is likely taking some time to think through her real feelings for the new guy and her feelings for OP. She could decide she has a real romantic crush and want to pursue it or stop it right now and refocus on her relationship. Usually when it's gone this far and it is apparent to those around her, including her SO, she will choose the former.
