So I have recently been trying to build my credit the only thing on my credit report is an unpaid electric bill from about 5 years ago... I have been working at a fairly good job for about a year now and just applied for a secured capital one credit card and was denied does anyone have any advise on how to move forward and start building my credit up??

why do you need credit?

Try for a different credit card, that's really the best way to build credit.
It's possible that you just don't have much credit aside from that one unpaid utilities bill.
Yea that's the problem I have no credit aside from that and the more cards I apply for the worse my credit will get so I'm looking for a card that is pretty much as close as u can get to guaranteed approval don't care if I have to secure it with like 500 or $1000
Go to reddit. Seriously. Personal finance is a good one. Start reading stuff. Do a little research on the googles. Get creditkarma on your phone. The sweetspot for credit building with credit cards is around 15-30% utilization I think. Look that up though, I may be wrong. Don't use more than 30% of your available credit. Don't keep a zero balance every month.
I got denied for a lot of cards, until Discover accepted my application. Maybe try them.
OK will definitely look into it thx
