Don't steer it towards sex; I never do. I started by finding girls with mutual friends, or just started talking to girls that were standing alone in the kitchen or somewhere. If one is interested in you, then they'll seem really attentive when you're talking. Don't think about sex at first, or you'll probably just come off as a creepy perv.
