I have an appointment with my first psychologist Monday, I'm debating calling and cancelling... Has anyone seen a psychologist and can tell me if it's worth the $120 a session?
$120 is too much, at least where I live.
But if you have issues and the psychologist knows his shit then yeah, it's worth it. Thing is, many psychologists don't know their shit. Some of them give the same cliche advice you'd receive here. Still, if you're struggling with something you should give it a try, a few hundred bucks aren't a big deal in the long run.

It's worth it if you're actually going to take their advice and put the work in. They aren't going to give you a magic solution to your problems. They're going to give you tools you can use to get shit done by yourself. If you're on the fence about going, are you going to be able to commit to the program?

buy an escort with that money, learn how to fuck and then sorround yourself with slutty bitches, that should clear your mental disorder

Well it's $120 Canadian but yeah that's the main issue, the other stuff I could spend $120 on...

Should I avoid mentioning that I want to die? I'd rather not end up in an asylum

Yeah maybe

>emotionless sex without intimacy
>surefire cure for depression
You haven't actually tried this method yourself yet, have you?

Do you understand that its pretty typical for people to
A. Feel this way and
B. Hire someone to talk about it with
They can't shove you in a nuthouse. You need to be honest or its not worth going. One of the first questions they will ask is "do you think of harming yourself or others". Thats ehy they're there.
Here's my suggestion (learned the hard way)
1 - Make a list of what you want to discuss
2 - Make a list of goals (what you want to achieve through therapy)
3 - Make a timeline as to when you want to achieve your goals
4 - Share your lists and timeline with the therapist. Be realistic. If you say you want to be more assertive within a month and the therapist says someone like you may take six months, be flexible with your timeline
5 - Depending how often you see the therapist review your lists and timeline. If you see them twice a week, review every month. Once a week, maybe 2-3 months. Do this to make sure you are working towards your goals.
My first therapist viewed me as billable hours. Made no progress. Did the above with my second therapist and it worked out nicely.

I'm more of a monogamy kind of person anyway
