I got a tiny bit of water on my phone yesterday and the screen started to become unresponsive so I put it in some rice, dried it out and it worked good as new. However, today it just blinked off without warning and when I tried to turn it on again, the boot screen was green and had a line going through the middle. I pulled out the battery and reinserted it, now my phone will switch on, stay on the boot screen for 30 secs-1 minute, turn off and repeat. I've tried to put it into recovery mode/factory reset but the buttons are unresponsive and it doesn't stay on long enough for me to do it anyway. Help please.
Time to get a new phone.
Dead serious. If you have a warranty, I suggest you use it.

How much water are we talking about anyway?
My nexus 5 has been drenched in rain and it still functioned normally after. No rice needed.

Samsung Galaxy Lite, $30. If I drop it in the toilet, oh fucking well, I get another one for $30.
If you are paying $600 for a phone just to keep up with the Jones', you are throwing your money away and deserve whatever you get.
Alternatively, take an insurance policy out on your damaged phone. Don't tell them it's damaged until 2 days after you sign the policy.
put it in rice..

This nigga has it right. I've been using Samsung Lites and ZTE stuff for years. Buying a brand new phone off the tracphone rack is less than a few months of insurance payments and like 1/3rd the price of the deductible you have to fucking pay anyway.

most warranties don't cover water damage
