Has anyone else personally dealt with alcoholism? I've been an extremely heavy drinker for the past yearish and I am concerned that I've started to do nerve damage.

Started with a light tingly numbness in my big toes (thats gone away) now I am having trouble swallowing, it feels like my throat is slightly closed or my uvula is dangling in it, its also causing a mild discomfort while breathing.

I've been googling just the symptoms and majority of the pages link alcoholism as a possible factor. Has anyone had these issues? Have they gotten better via sobriety?

Whiskey is so fucking amazing. I can summon the taste without drinking, though ;)

Studies done on psychedelic mushrooms have shown that a single treatment of psilocybin, under the careful guidance of a therapist, resulted in significant improvement on alcoholics that had little to no improvement from other therapy forms, for up to three months.
Personally I took 300ug of LSD last year, and have hated the feeling of being drunk since.

Part of my post got cut off, but I've done my share of psychedelics in my day. Can't say what caused my drinking habits, no alcohol abuse in my family, no one hardly drinks. I think I just got into drinking for any occasion because I could usually function regardless, then it just became part of my daily routine.

I have a full time job that I am very good at, and I am not an angry drunk so I guess I have been able to fly under the radar up until now.

Still wondering if I've done permanent damage. I am 26 years old. Haven't had a drink in 4 days.

Cut out the alcohol and see if it goes away?

Stop drinking forever. It's not even fun because booze is a shitty buzz.
>>
>tfw constantly depressed but strait edge
>Scared to drink or do any drug because I know I'll just use it to numb the pain

I have a tuff time stopping drinking. I'll be good for three days or whatever and then someone wants to have a glass of wine or a drink after work and I end up waking up on my floor with a bottle of fuck all next to me.
>tfw I work as a distiller

alcohol impacts your liver more than brain/nerve function. its just a problem you deal with as you age. it could be anxiety as to why you cant swallow or a neurodegenerative problem. you should see a neurologist.
>>
>>17577348
depends on the dosages and frequency of use, like any other drug. Infrequent use at mild doses won't do shit to the normal guy. High doses frequently will fuck anybody's shit up
>>
>>17577303
I cant say I've ever lose control of myself. I can moderate my drinking in company and always find my bed.

Most days its a pint of whiskey and a few beers over 6-8 hours

The uvula thing is a pretty common alcohol problem in my family, but not necessarily directly an alcohol effect. It basically comes from passing out with your mouth open after a long bender, and then the mouth breathing irritating the shit out of it and making it swollen. It'll go away, take some Advil (not Tylenol, that shit will fuck up your liver more).

I'm an alcoholic myself. Have been for 13 years, and I'm only 30. Wish I had some advice for you.

Shit man, sorry. I'm afraid I'm gonna go this path too. Could you share something to deter me or other anons from doing it?

I feel like I'm truly h a ppy when drunk, even though everything in my life seems to go well
