I have a fear of driving but I'm pushing myself to do it

First off, you need to calm down from behind the wheel, last thing you want is to get so stressed you end up destroying your car in the process. What makes you nervous about driving in the first place?

You have to just do it. When I started driving I had a rather challenging commute in that it had a bunch of merges into different highways and windy country back roads. It sucked but my dad helped me out by riding with me at first. It was hard at first but eventually I got over it. Now I work in ems and drive an ambulance daily, I never would have thought i could handle that but all it took was practice.

I can't speak for OP but I hate driving at high speeds. I can't stop thinking about how I could die from one simple mistake.

I'm calm and have a positive outlook. What I'm "afraid" of is the fact that shit can happen that you can't even control, and the consequences are dire.

I also SUCK at parking and I feel like I'm making a fool out of myself by taking so long to adjust and park the damn car.

Overall I'm OK with driving, I'm just slightly nervous. Gotta pay attention to the fullest and conquer this demon though.

Today I'll drive some 25 km alone for the first time in my life. I drove it before, but I'll be fully alone by myself since ever.

I understand that can be fairly scary when you start driving, but you just need to break through that by continuing with practice. Same with the parking skill that comes with driving, you'll only get better if you practice.

Practice in a big empty parking lot. Then move up to low-traffic streets. You are in fact safer on highways than local streets if you stay in one lane, because there are fewer surprises.
