My ex got a belly piercing with her friends because they went to university and that's what you do for your first time away from your parents unsupervised. It got infected and left a fairly large scar (for a piercing).

But if you are desperate for attention and want to add more metal to your body then by all means get it done, it will look stupid and catch on your clothing, you will have to remember to clean it up to twice a day and if it gets infected you will have a fetching scar.
You will alienate a lot of men by getting one as you would if you got a tramp stamp.

I'd say look into it and think it over for a couple of months, if it still seems like a good idea after that then go for it.
