I'm constantly plagued by thoughts of dumb/embarrassing things I've done in the past. I cringe quite consistently throughout the day. Any way to be more self accepting, even if other people may never be?
Everybody has done shit like that in the past.
It's over with, forget it.

Well, thinking negatively about past mistakes might keep you from repeating them.
Have you tried thinking about it that way?
Recognizing that you are in control to avoid these mistakes in the future might help you thinking about them less.
I also often have to think about stupid things that i wish i would not have done, and when it happens i just think "At least i´m smarter now".

Other people don't care as much about it as you do. Just try not to think about it. Everybody do dumb embarrassing things

let it go, my son
the past cannot be changed, it is wasteful to allow it to occupy your mind

Not OP but those thoughts are invasive. I don't choose to remember those things, they just pop up.

the only person that remembers those embarrassing moments is you. no one else fucking cares to remember.
get busy living.
Yell out loud or internally "Stop" when those memories come back. If shit gets really bad, then listen to the sounds around you. For me it's the hum of my central ac. I also tell myself that remembering that bad shit is like me wishing it would happen again. That stops it fast.
This is a stupid way to manage it, but you can also deny it. Tell yourself it never happened. Is there proof? Do others bring it up? No, it was a vivid dream.
