Better in what way?

College is going to be highschool 2.0 but there will be a small percentage of people actually pursuing their goals that will be fun to work with. My first job was where I really started having fun.

General rules of thumb (There are, of course, exceptions)
People who are social successes in high school tend to peak there, partly because they got into the bad habit of assuming popularity and success as their birthright and never learning to work for it.
People who were social outcasts (nerds, goths, etc) tend to do pretty well afterwards because they are smart enough to have goals and work toward them in college and beyond, and with that kind of ambition, popularity follows.
People who are losers - drop-outs, hoods, druggies - tend to stay that way.
