if i come to a stop and i'm turning left, and the oncoming car stops, who goes first?
A: me because i'm in the left turn lane
B: them because i wait for the oncoming traffic to clear & come to a stop before i go? idk
C: whoever stopped first
i really don't know. almost 22 and no license, but i got my permit and i'm just trying to learn
oncoming car is not supposed to stop for your car turning left. right turn has the right of way, and so do cars going straight.
i am assuming you mean in the middle of a road, but you left out the scenario: is this an intersection, four-way with stop signs? be more specific.

if you are turning left you always yield, everyone goes before you. unless u have an arrow
Whomever has the right of way. Stopping does not matter

it's a three way stop with stop signs in both directions, and i was in the turn lane (left (center) right) going left.
i was wondering if the oncoming car had the right of way, or i did, as i was turning left.
new to driving obviously so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

my question is "who has the right of way in this scenario"...

this is what i thought, that i would wait for oncoming traffic to continue, while traffic going straight (same direction i'm facing) continues to go, until oncoming traffic clears and i can take a clean left.
that makes the most sense..

yes ur intuition is working correctly. if you want to see an example of this situation play out for hands-on, maybe ask someone who drives to take you to an intersection that is like that to see for urself

i think i'll just pay more attention when riding along with people then. usually i'm just peeking at my phone, unless the person driving is using their phone then my eyes are on the road (because not dying is kinda nice)
thanks for the help
