well I where i live looking at small departments down time is typically 6 months or less large departments are more involved, doing army to build up credentials as well as being an 01 looks better then being a E5.

Dispatcher here. Where you looking to be a cop? We're putting guys through the academy 3 classes a year per year and can't get them hired and trained quick enough to replace the retirees and people quitting since Ferguson.

Military experience can help, but sometimes larger departments prefer guys without it. You'll have to learn a whole new way of doing things and suppress certain things the military trains you to do.

Whatever you do, if you started your military service, don't quit. Finish what you commit to, make sure you maintain good credit and don't get arrested for anything.

I'm not in it for the guts and glory aspect I just like the every interaction you can have with people and dealing whit different situations every and the camaraderie, PS i want to say thank I realize I might not have the experience to be a cop and need to do the military to look better
