I mean in america a child can be prevented from cancer treatment if the parent sees fit. So, you are a far cry from legal abuse. Financial help will be different from emotional help. It isn't clear what exactly you are even asking advice about. Do you need help getting a job or coping with the past?

How are you ill? Is it a cough? Do you feel weak? Are you unable to leave the bed? Are you unable to use the bathroom on your own? Are you persistently sick? Did you start having symptoms recently? What are they? Is there any job you could do with those in mind?

What is your illness? That is an absolutely necessary piece of info if we want to give you advice on how to financially sustain yourself.

And be careful about the victim complex. Have you been ill since you were 18? Did you only suddenly realize you have been in a toxic environment?

If you have a legitimate serious illness that has been diagnosed, and i have a hard time believing anything you say unless you have seen a professional about the matter, then you will have no problem getting on disability. More importantly, what is your illness?

If you are sick enough to be prevented from working and you are currently in a toxic environment, then the prudent thing is to see a doctor. Doesn't matter if you get shit insurance or simply go into medical debt. If you are debilitated from being an adult, and you have been for 6+ years, then you need to take care of yourself first. Because the only other options currently are to be ill for the rest of your life in that toxic environment or bite the bullet, go into debt and help yourself to heal.

no I knew my whole life I lived in a toxic environment. I've lived in tiny shacks with my moms husband chain smoking in the room next to me and playing porn on a massive tv in the living room when I was 16, and mold grew out of the floors. I just didn't know what to do. I moved out for a year when I was 20-21 but I moved back after bc I had trouble making it in my own, and it's hard to move back since

recently I've been diagnosed with Lyme disease (my mom has 20
cats in her house and I think there's a good chance i got bit from a tick from one of her cats) and Bell's palsy from Lyme and idk what else I'm hoping to recover fully soon.

And you could get close to enough to support yourself through medical disability. Besides that look for something you can do from home on your computer. You are certainly in a pickle, but time and savings could help you get out of it. It may be shitty living with your toxic mom and dirty house, but at the very least it is something over your head while you figure out your next step.

yeah I jusd didn't think I'd qualify but thanks I'm going to apply for both disability and unemployment, I was working about a month and a half ago but not more than 10 hours a week really.. I did have a full time job about three months ago but only for maybe 2 months, I worked up to 40 hours/week

Not OP, but learned helplessness is a very real thing. If you never learn how to take initiative in your life growing up, your efforts fail, and you're put down for them during formative moments, you'll have very impaired initiative taking and problem solving skills.

Obviously, to make it OP needs to learn to work through that and develop those skills herself, but it's something to keep in mind. She's not going to necessarily think to google it herself, and if she does she won't know what's good advice or bad and might benefit from a little bit of handholding.
