I'm 30 years old male and I've been kind of thinking of what profession to get into. Late starter here.
One idea I've had was joining the police force. Is this a dumb idea? I just want a livable wage, lots of hours, and eventually be able to have a family, plus despite all the hate cops get, I think it's an honorable profession. I know it's not "too old" but will I have difficult time starting?
Ignore the pic, I'm not trying to delude myself or romanticize the profession.

It's not, but some police departments require an associates degree or atleast 2 years of college. But some just require a HS diploma.

If you're looking to get into the police force, check if they have some form of information dump. Here in NZ we have a site dedicated telling you exactly what you need, how the job generally goes (roster for hours, 2 years with a senior supervisor before becoming an independent officer, prerequisite qualifications etc.), so I imagine wherever you are should have one too. If not, you could always ask at a station. Might look a bit dumb tho.
