I've been feeling really shitty about myself lately, so I started drinking. I never used drinking before as a reason to clear my mind of bad thoughts. I never really drank much before I do now. It's not like I'm drinking much now, just a few beers a day, but it feels so good. Is this how alcoholism starts, and should I try to stop myself, or is there not much to be worried about?

Alcoholism starts when you are desperate so why don't you tell us what is going on with your life instead ?

Avoiding the problem by drinking isn't going to make it solve itself, believe me.
>>
Don't be pathetic, alcohol is for losers.

Ive been drinking on most days for over a year now and im pretty sure im addicted(can go without easily for at least 2 weeks).

So id say you can safely drink your problems away(of course they will still be there afterwards) for a certain period.

So no need to be scared, for now. However, remember that it wont really help, just comfort for a little while.

Pretty sure im NOT addicted, obviously.

>Pretty sure im NOT addicted

That's exactly what an alcholic would say...

Alcohol is a drug. Google it.

Symptoms of alcohol addiction according to Webmd(for all thats worth)
>You cannot quit drinking or control how much you drink.
Kinda true, but not really. Although i sometimes drink more than i had planned, i never drink more than i can stomach.
>You need to drink more to get the same effect.
Do i need to drink morethan i did when i was 18 years old? obviously. But that could easilyalso be because i weigh like 50 lbs more.
>You have withdrawal symptoms when you stop drinking. These include feeling sick to your stomach, sweating, shakiness, and anxiety.
Literally none.
>You spend a lot of time drinking and recovering.
I only drink while im doing something else so i actually spend no time drinking effectively.
You have given up other activities so you can drink.
Nope, see above.
>You keep drinking even though it harms your relationships and causes health problems.
No known health problems, happy love life, plenty of great friends.

Other signs include:

>You drink in the morning, are often drunk for long periods of time, or drink alone.
I drink alone because it is more enjoyable. I dont see how that implies addiction or abuse. No drinks in the morning, No drinking sessions longer than a few hours.
>You change what you drink, such as switching from beer to wine because you think that doing this will help you drink less or keep you from getting drunk.
Makes no sense. Of course i like different kinds of drinks.
>You feel guilty after drinking.
Nope.
>You make excuses for your drinking or do things to hide your drinking, such as buying alcohol at different stores.
I dont keep bottles in the open because its trashy.
>You worry that you won't get enough alcohol for an evening or weekend.
Better have too much than too little. No connection to addiction.
>You have physical signs of alcohol dependence, such as weight loss, a sore or upset stomach (gastritis), or redness of the nose and cheeks.
Had gastritis before, not anymore.
