you kind of have an oblong face shape. By adding height to your hair only on the top you exaggerate that characteristic, which in turn is unnattractive (not oblong faces but the combo of tall hair and oblong faces)

I am no expert, but i have an oblong face. I would recommend some longer locks that fall to the side or generally curly. That way you can add width to your face.

It doesn't look like you can grow a beard, but when the time comes, short all over facial hair also works well with your face shape.

This. It's somewhat of a pain though, same with cornrows. One of the reasons why I took them off was because it was more of a pain to clean and a bunch of hairs started sticking out.
