This isn't the 1900s where we have to cordially ask the parents for the daughter's hand before you can even hold it.
Just take her on a date, have fun. Gifts are for special occasions, anniversaries, birthdays, celebrations. Not just "hey second date here's something I hope you'll like." It's better off to wait anyway so you can get a better gauge of her tastes before giving her gifts.
