The ugly part only applies to getting girls. You can be ugly as heck and still have a lot of friends, as looks don't really matter all that much in that regard.

But yeah, when it comes to girls you have to be somewhat attractive, if you don't want to shoot for the really unattractive ones, and even they have high standards these days.
