You do realize if it's a really good job you're going to have a SSBI with poly, right? You won't be able to lie your way out of it, nor should you try; lying on a prior clearance is grounds to deny/revoke any subsequent one.

If you're telling the truth, you're either really good or the guy administering the test was really bad.
I get out of them by saying I've had prior training on how to beat them. This works in all situations here in the USA.
SSBI = Single Scope Background Investigation. They go back in some instances your entire life, visit your neighbors, take follicle tests for drug/alcohol use. god help you if you've ever had a muslim friend. This is pretty standard these days though.
